School uniform gives a sense of identity and discipline which carries through to a student's approach to lessons and, perhaps, to their life generally. It is compulsory for all students, and set out below are the different requirements by grade and discipline which all girls must adhere to. (Boys' uniforms do of course differ in several respects - please consult us before committing to any expenditure.)

We are able to supply most of the uniform ourselves, at prices which will almost always be cheaper than would be available in the shops. Theer is no compulsion to use this service, but feel free to consult Kirstie and place your orders with her as necessary.

MODERN

Children should use their ballet costumes, taking off shoes and socks/tights in order to dance barefoot. Where convertible tights are worn, they may be rolled up to calf height.

For examinations, pupils in Grade 3 and upwards should wear a unitard and hair scrunchie of any colour - Available from www.boogiewearandfabrics.co.uk

TAP

Children should use their ballet costumes, with black tap shoes. For younger children, canvas shoes are advised, being both more flexible and cheaper. For children in Grade 3 and upwards, jazz tap shoes are preferred.

For examinations, pupils in Grade 3 and upwards should again wear a unitard of any colour.

NATIONAL

For all grades, plum or black camisole top leotard as appropriate and national skirt. Pink ballet socks/tights and black national shoes. For children in Primary and Grade 1 Canvas shoes are fine; from Grade 2 onwards leather shoes are required. National skirts are made by Kirstie to order.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Children can wear their leotard with their skirt, black leggings or jazz trousers. Or they may wear their school tracksuit.

JAZZ/STRETCHING

As for Musical Theatre although if wearing a school tracksuit please use leggings/jazz trousers rather than tracksuit bottoms.

TEE SHIRTS AND OTHER SCHOOL WEAR

Tee shirts bearing the School's name and badge are available to pupils and parents from Kirstie, and we are looking into the practicality of providing other ranges in addition.

Conscious as we are of the expense that is already involved in dancing, these items are entirely voluntary additions to the wardrobe, but we do ask that where possible, children wear the tee shirt at festivals - with pride!
